Abate

This blog is dedicated to one of the sweetest girls that I have ever met.

I went to do a visit, and her energy just captured my heart.

It took me a month to write this post because it had to be written at the right time. After going to her home, she impressed me with a beautiful passport, hand-drawn and written by her, and I was shocked when I was the one person she decided to give her hard-earned work and dedication to.

I thought long and hard about our conversation, day in and day out, and I gathered information after information on the enormous effect that this gift had caused me.

In our brief conversation, she had spoken to me about how she had been bullied at school, and she had felt a certain way about what was said about her, to the point that she had questioned her beauty. Although her mother and I gave her words of encouragement, I could see in her eyes that the statement might have left a scar in her thoughts and her heart, and possibly a permanent question in her future on behalf of how beautiful she is.

Now I wanted to explain why this gift is hanging on my wall in a glass frame. This girl taught me the most significant lesson anyone could teach me. Although she had only seen me a few times and we are not close, she gifted me her time, her energy, her thoughts, her heart, her intelligence, and her gift, and most of all her strength. - You might say, Mitzy, why would you say that all of this was gifted? When it's only a drawing?

Let's look at this:

When you lift every little paper, it shows something on the bottom.

The time, thought, and dedication placed into this still amazes me...

The position and the multiple continuous strokes that had to take place to complete this picture are what many of us lack.

This girl gave me her time and hard work, expecting nothing. Often we forget to just give without expecting anything in return. Life is about lessons learned everyday, this girl never thought that this drawing would be all over the internet and that this drawing would allow for the world to see that children are more than just a placement on a screen, they can see and understand emotions and perceive feelings and if treated and given the time to evolve and indulge in their intuition, conversation and life you will also learn valid lessons.

The lesson that I learned from Sophia Sky Abate, is that the sky is the limit, and yes we will all have days in which as she placed it on her passport we will feel "happy" "angry" "sad" "very happy" "cold" and "hot" = but her question to all of us today is (what are you doing today)?

What are we doing differently? What about our day-to-day, can we change?

Every second that we arise. It's a new day for a new beginning, to be that "famous person", as she wrote it on this beautiful passport, and decide where will our mental passport will take us today? Will it be the route of continuance and self-pity? Or a place of lessons and trials that will lead us to have dreams, excel, and look back and say, "look at how far I have made it"!

To you, SOFIA SKY ABATE - Dream big and don't you ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Take everything that life gives you as a lesson and a stepping stone to continue gathering knowledge in this daily school called life. Shine bright and continue being the most beautiful girl in this world. Thank you for teaching us from your young eyes that, once again, life is what you make of it. Thank you for this wonderful gift that I will cherish for the rest of my life, and to MOM, you have done an excellent job.
